BREWERY DISCOVERY ROUTES LAUNCH FOR 2018

Back for fourth year, Brewery Discovery Routes offer local craft beer adventures across Ontario

Toronto – Brewery Discovery Routes released updated itineraries on May 12 with over 200 craft breweries, 40 craft cideries, 20 craft distillers, and dozens of Feast On restaurants and farmers markets to choose from. Each of the 9 curated itineraries suggests stops to enjoy the very best of local food and drink in southern Ontario.

ONTARIO GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH GREENBELT FUND TO GROW LOCAL FOOD ACCESS THROUGH 15 LOCAL FOOD PROJECTS

Over $315,000 in new funding to get more local food on to Ontarians’ plates

Hamilton - Today, Ted McMeekin, MPP for Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale on behalf of Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that the Government of Ontario is supporting fifteen local food projects across the province that will increase access to local food and support the growth of Ontario’s agri-food sector. These investments strengthen our agri-food value chain which means more local food on Ontarians’ plates.

BACKGROUNDER: Local Food Investment Fund Round 5

 The Government of Ontario is investing over $315,000 in 15 innovative projects that will increase access to more local food across the province. With $4.6m in support from the Ontario Government, the Greenbelt Fund has supported 114 projects across Ontario since 2015.

Local Food Champion Award presented to Dan Munshaw at Local Food Symposium

At the Greenbelt Fund Local Food Symposium on November 8, Dan Munshaw received the Local Food Champion Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership in advocating for local food and changing the culture and priorities of the City of Thunder Bay to embrace local in the procurement process. The award was presented by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal.
