BREWERY DISCOVERY ROUTES LAUNCH FOR 2018

Back for fourth year, Brewery Discovery Routes offer local craft beer adventures across Ontario

Toronto – Brewery Discovery Routes released updated itineraries on May 12 with over 200 craft breweries, 40 craft cideries, 20 craft distillers, and dozens of Feast On restaurants and farmers markets to choose from. Each of the 9 curated itineraries suggests stops to enjoy the very best of local food and drink in southern Ontario.

New this year, Brewery Discovery Routes is doing a pilot in partnership with Craft Beer Passport to offer $2 12oz pours at select breweries, with more breweries to be added as the season continues. All breweries and itineraries can be found at www.brewerydiscoveryroutes.ca and 275,000 printed maps have been distributed across the province.

“Brewery Discovery Routes put craft beverage producers on the map, quite literally,” said Frances Pairaudeau, Project Manager of Brewery Discovery Routes. “Working with brewers, distillers, chefs at Feast On restaurants, cideries, and farmers, the Routes celebrate the bounty that Ontario has to offer and foster taste of place in our rural communities and beautiful countryside.”

Brewery Discovery Routes are a successful partnership between the Greenbelt Fund, Ontario Craft Brewers, Ontario Craft Cider Association, Ontario Craft Distillers Association, Feast On, Ontario Beverage Network and 14 regional tourism offices. The routes encourage people to enjoy Ontario’s rural countryside and choose more local more often.

“For more and more Ontarians, eating and drinking local is their first choice as a point of pride and support for our local economy. Brewery Discovery Routes offer those local options as part of curated experiences in Ontario’s Greenbelt and countryside, making it easier than ever to have an authentic, local experience,” said Susan Murray, VP of Communications at the Greenbelt Fund.

Participants are encouraged to share photos from their adventures using #BrewRoutesON on Twitter and Instagram for a chance to win delicious prizes.

While sampling is part of any brewery tour, participants are reminded to drink responsibly and establish a designtated driver if touring the Brewery Discovery Routes by car. Most breweries, cideries and distilleries have bottle shops on site so visitors can take their favourite craft beverage home to enjoy.
