Kendal Donahue is the Agriculture Development Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs working out of the Thunder Bay office. Kendal holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies from York University. Throughout her program, Kendal’s research interests focused on the emerging role of municipalities as key actors affecting food policy and food systems change at the local level. Upon graduating from York in 2011, Kendal went on to work for Sustain Ontario then relocated to Thunder Bay where she developed and led the Thunder Bay and Area Food Strategy that resulted in a range of projects aimed at supporting local food and agri-food businesses. In her present role with OMAFRA, Kendal advises farmers and food processors on starting and growing their businesses, and on a range of local and regional economic development projects aimed at growing the agriculture and agri-food sector in northern Ontario.
