Start Time: 7:30am
Interested in seeing the inner workings of a food hub? This excursion features a trip through Niagara, along Lake Ontario, and into Canada’s largest city for a tour of three Toronto area food hubs. The tour includes a walk through Sysco Canada, a global leader in selling, marketing, and distributing food products to restaurants, healthcare, and educational facilities among others. The tour also visits 100km Foods Inc., a family owned and operated hub whose mission is to provide local chefs access to the freshest products Ontario has to offer, while also giving Ontario producers a dedicated channel for distributing their products at a fair price. The group visits the Ontario Food Terminal as well—Canada’s largest wholesale fruit and produce terminal with more than 1,000,000 tons of produce distributed annually. Lunch will be served at Café Belong, at Evergreen Brick Works, one of the top 10 geo-tourism destinations in the world.
